Kapuka Pinot Noir is produced from a selection of sub-regions and vineyard sites in the Marlborough region. These vineyard sites provide a variety of soil types and climatic conditions, giving rise to a wine with an excellent balance of fruit flavours and aromas.

Vintage Conditions

Another magic ripening season in Marlborough with significantly more spring rainfall than ‘usual’ which meant we had some of the best canopies and healthy vines at harvest, since 2003. The warm autumn ensured harvest delivered on time, with these pinot noir vineyards demonstrating an amazing array of intense vibrant flavours

Appearance

Glossy crimson with ruby highlights.

Bouquet

Elegant bright red cherry nose with hints of mulberry and strawberries which tantalise the senses.

Palate

This is Marlborough pinot noir at its brightest. It’s a delicate, medium bodied wine with lashings of red cherry and spice on the palate. Finishing clearly with light tannins, it’s elegant yet approachable, especially paired with food.

Winemaking

The fruit was gently picked and destemmed into open top fermenters. Selected yeast strains were used for each individual parcel. The wine was then fermented to dryness and basket pressed to French barrels for 12 months before being blended, fined and bottled.

Food Match

Best served at room temperature with warm duck and pomegranate salad or mushroom and grilled eggplant tart.
