Riesling wines from the Frankland River region are renowned for their intense varietal flavours and crisp fresh acidity. The Frankland Estate Isolation Ridge Vineyard Riesling is consistently ranked among the best in Australia and has won widespread critical acclaim. We believe riesling produces the world’s greatest white wines and have made a major commitment to the variety. This is reflected in our sponsorship of the Frankland Estate International Riesling Tasting, a biennial comparative tasting of the world’s greatest dry rieslings, and the Frankland Estate Riesling Scholarship, an annual award to a member of the hospitality or wine industry who has contributed to greater appreciation and enjoyment of riesling wines. In addition to our Frankland Estate Isolation Ridge Riesling we also make limited quantities of other single vineyard rieslings from the Frankland River region.
Complex and highly perfumed with alluring lime blossom, delicate flavours of spice, green apple and ironstone mineral undertones.
Starting focused and very directional, the palate fills with intense tightly interwoven citrus-lemon flavours and vibrant lime-infused acidity complemented by silky-textures. Remarkable power and intensity are balanced by a fragile delicacy and lightness of touch that persists through the long refreshing finish of this distinguished riesling.
Consistent with the now well-established Isolation Ridge style this wine reflects both the low-yielding, dry growing conditions experienced in the 2014 vintage. The balance of pristine fruit flavours and laser-like acidity result in an exceptional wine that can be enjoyed now or cellared with the confidence it will continue to develop further complexity for many years to come.
A very dry spring and early summer was followed by a typically mild Frankland River growing season. Harvested in mid to late March the fruit was in clean and ideal condition.
Grapes are pressed immediately on arrival at the winery with the juice left to settle in tank over night before being racked. The wine was then fermented in tanks and (neutral) oak at low temperatures (less than 14 deg C) over 12 weeks with minimal intervention from our winemakers in order to obtain the purest expression of the pristine, organically grown fruit from the Isolation Ridge vineyard.
